As a diverse community of artists Cubitt has consistently maintained a central ethos of inclusiveness, and a belief in the ability of art practice to enable independent thinking. We understand the importance of everybody's individual creative voice and we try to create spaces of creative freedom for local people: spaces of enrichment; empowerment; and open-ended social engagement.
Cubitt's education programme works closely with schools, community centres and groups in Islington, the 7th poorest borough in the country, on a variety of long-term weekly projects that provide skills training, and promote community cohesion and intergenerational conversation. Our programme includes a free art library, an open studio, a mentoring scheme, free skills-based workshops, and regular participant-led activities within local schools.
Our progamme provides qualititave, enriching, creative activities for between 200-400 local people a week, aged 4-87 yrs old.
